Sometimes there is a person who consistently goes above and beyond in their care, respect of others and work ethic. They do this so quietly that it often doesn't get noticed. Jacquie is one of those people. Anything she is asked to do is done immediately and without complaint. Often she sees something that needs done and it is just done. Her co-workers say she is the reason they come to work. They know they can count on her to be there for them. The reason I am nominating Jacquie is because of this consistently shown behavior and a special instance where she really exhibited this.

Jacquie had a call from the ED because they had a 4 year old leukemia patient who had fevers and needed lab work. The IV therapist had gone home sick and there was no one to access the child's port-a-cath. The mother was refusing to have it drawn peripherally because she did not want the child to have unneeded pain. Jacquie is one of the few oncology nurses who are checked-off to access port-a-caths. She was asked if she would do this, so she went right over to access the child's port-a-cath. The mother was extremely grateful and the child slept through the procedure, a whole different outcome than if the child had to be stuck to get the needed lab. Jacquie is always the one to say "I can do that." She helps anyone and everyone.
