My mother was a patient on 3C. I am not a medical person and I don't understand the lingo manypeopleuse. I was made my mother's healthcare agent and flew into town to be with her this hospital stay and to make the decision to pursue hospice care. During my first days here, Cathy was her nurse. Cathy has been the most helpful person I met here. Everything she's done she has explained to me in terms I can understand and has always asked permission before doing anything.
One day I left for a while and came back to find Cathy in my mother's room. Without knowing I could hear her, she was talking to my mother, on her level next to her bed, asking her about how she was feeling and if she could help her. After each question, she took the time to listen. She didn't try and speak for her or rush her. Her caring is genuine. She does not pretend. She has really been exceptional. Even when my mom wasn't her patient, she still took the time to talk to me, to answer my questions, and to help me through this transition to hospice. She never rushed through anything. You need to hold onto this one. Her personality always comes through. We all have bad days, but you'd be hard pressed to catch her in one.
