It is amazing to know and admire someone who has special attributes and talents. And when you get to see those put into work, it is truly a wonderful thing.
I have always considered Ela to be a positive, quick to smile, friendly, and kind person. When my mother was diagnosed with Stage 3 lung cancer and Ela was the one to come and speak to her, it was on another level that I witnessed her abilities. Ela was able to speak with warmth and comfort. She was able to offer her time and resources freely, and put my mother at ease. She did this in a way that you felt better, felt comfort and support and know that you had someone in your corner who meant what she said. Not because it was her job, but because it was her desire as a human being to comfort someone who distinctly, and immediately needed comfort. Her expertise is one component, but her compassion for others is what sets her apart. She is an asset to the hospital and to any and everyone whom she comes into contact with. Especially in her role when people are fearful and fragile. I love her even more for this gift/talent that she shares with patients and their families.
