Sarah has worked in the NSICU since it opened 5 years ago. Since I started floating to the ICUs as a critical care float 2 years ago, she has been a mentor to me. She is an amazing nurse and is such a great resource on that unit where specialized knowledge is so crucial.
Let me tell you about one night when I was floated there. I had to take a patient to MRI which, in ICU, can take several hours. I asked Sarah to watch my 2nd patient while I was gone. When I finally came back at almost 11 pm, thinking I was so behind because I had been off the floor for hours, I found that Sarah had charted my 10 pm assessment, passed my 10 pm meds, and bathed my patient! My patient was perfectly cared for. That's just Sarah. She always goes above and beyond.
Another thing about Sarah that really impresses me is her interactions with families. She is so compassionate and always takes the time to talk to the families even if it isn't necessarily her patient.
Sarah is also so kind to her patients. She is gentle and soft-spoken and I would love for her to care for my family member if they were ever critically ill.
I also want to mention Sarah's teamwork. She ALWAYS asks me when I float to NSICU if I need help. She ALWAYS helps me bathe and turn my patients. I absolutely love it when she is there. She also ALWAYS helps me with any clinical questions since I am a float and don't have as much experience with neuroscience ICU as she does.
Sarah truly deserves to be recognized. She is an asset to Cleveland Clinic Akron General and to NSICU
