As a leader, you must be committed to your passion and purpose and have the type of commitment that turns into perseverance. Commitment to excellence starts with a leader and you know in your heart that where you are is where you were placed to serve and share your skills and talents. Patient care is a team effort and Ms. Shine shows that throughout the day every time I work with her. She has strong leadership qualities, empathy, compassion and respect for patients, family members and staffs.
A strong nurse leader inspires their fellow nurses to meet and even exceed their highest expectation by honoring their profession's ethical principles, always putting patient needs first and treating their colleagues with respect, they establish a standard of contact for other nurses to follow. In addition, when nurse leaders established themselves as authoritative but respectful leaders, it is less likely they have to reinstruct employees, and more likely their staff will naturally follow their lead. Ms. Shine always gives me encouragement and kind words and pushes me to excel and lets me know that it's never too late and to set a goal and see it through.
Ms. Shine is an exceptional, hardworking, and dedicated nurse. She is on several committees, doing several projects, working on her Masters, works full time and also teaches students once a week. I have respect and admiration for Ms. Shine. Not only does she continue to educate herself, but she also gives me inspiration and motivation to continue my education and move up the clinical ladder. She lets me know and encourages me that it is never too late and she will help me throughout my journey. This is someone who has strong leadership qualities. She wants others to succeed as well. She always encourages me to pursue and further my education. She always says, "A, are you going to sign up for the class? Come on what are you waiting for?"
