Jaime had an actively dying hospice patient who was requiring frequent analgesia and sedation. The family requested to bring the patient's service dog to provide the patient comfort. Jaime inquired about the policy and was told that this did not meet the policy guidelines for service dogs. She went up the chain of command and received approval for the dog to visit in a very short time. The patient and family were so very appreciative of all Jaime did to accomplish this. Jaime is recognized as a true champion of patient-centered care and met the very basic needs of a dying patient, unconditional love and comfort from her dog.
