Jennifer was preparing for an add-on D&C surgery patient who had experienced a miscarriage. Before the patient arrived, she reviewed the patient's history and noticed that this woman had suffered several miscarriages. Jennifer went above and beyond making sure the patient was on the appropriate floor. The patient was already emotional over the loss of the baby and Jennifer realized how hard it would be for her to be on the "baby" floor where she might have to hear newborns crying, see the beautiful newborn pictures adorning the walls, and see the joy from the visitors in the hall.
Jennifer is a constant patient advocate. So often, the patients do not know how much their nurses have already done to ensure their comfort both physically and emotionally. This was quite evident in this patient's case. Seeing this mom coming off the elevator, she was crying and taken by grief, it was proof that Jennifer's dedication and time were well worth it.
