Jennifer has greatly supported the Breast Center with leading a supportive environment for our patients, while contributing to improving the workplace for her colleagues and peers even during high anxiety, busy clinic days and a transitional year with staff turnover. Jennifer has greatly demonstrated over the last year, even with significant transitions in her nursing team and joining as a new RN, that she always puts patients first, provides high level of support to her surgeons and takes steps to contribute to the development of the new Surgical Oncology team. She has also led the development of our breast surgery workflows and processes, which for time there are now streamlined systems in place. Additionally, Jennifer partnered with her clinical team and updated all our Breast Surgical patient education to have the most up-to-date, evidence based educational recommendations to prepare patients for upcoming surgical procedures.
Jennifer approaches each patient situation with respect and compassion; she utilizes her advanced nursing skills appropriately with patient triaging, provider communication and demonstrates critical thinking in all our surgical oncology patients. She has contributed to new patient education information to ensure it is consistent from patient to patient. She demonstrates great patient care and contributes creative ideas to improving our clinic flow, care coordination and team building.
Jennifer has demonstrated leadership qualities as she willingly alters her week days in clinic to better meet the needs of patients, staff and providers. Not only did Jennifer change her times in clinic for our Surgical Oncology patients, when Jennifer was presented with supporting the OB clinic this past summer to assist in meeting staff and patient needs, Jennifer did not hesitate in saying "Yes". This commitment was over and above her commitment to the Breast Center. The staff in the OB Clinic have spoken very highly of Jennifer's gift of time and how she made a difference for them and for the patients they serve.
When Jennifer is given information that will significantly increase her workload, she becomes enthusiastic and immediately begins looking at ways that she may best meet the needs of new providers and new patients needing her support and encouragement following a difficult diagnosis.
Jennifer is willing to help her medical oncology team as well by on occasion carrying the triage phone, so they may better care for patients undergoing chemotherapy and anti-hormonal therapy. Her team approach to care is highly commended.

Jennifer Romig consistently goes above and beyond her responsibilities to ensure excellent patient care. In addition, she can anticipate the needs of the practice and identify when additional effort is needed to keep the practice running. She recently worked on days she had planned off, recognizing the clinic would be short staffed. She put the needs of patients and the practice above her own. Further, she steps up without complaining. She exemplifies the professionalism and dedication we want to see at UCHealth.

Jennifer is a very valuable part of the Breast Center team and demonstrates all areas of innovative approaches to patient care, contributes to evidence based, quality care and continues to demonstrate exceptional leadership.
