I am a BayCare Team member and recently was a patient at SJHN. After trying to get pregnant for over 2 years, I had a fetal demise at the 11th week of my pregnancy. I was heartbroken. Rachel was my nurse on the day of my D and C. I was devastated and had no idea how I was going to get through the day. She was warm, kind and understanding. My family and I had many questions, and she was patient, and never seemed aggravated with us. She made me feel safe and well cared for.
My partner had several questions about receiving a non-viable birth certificate for our child and wanted to know where her remains would be buried. Rachel didn't have the answer at that time but promised to get back to us. About a week later, I received a handwritten letter in the mail. It was from Rachel. She answered all our questions and provided the required paperwork. She offered sympathy for our loss and made me feel as though my tragedy was important to her, and not just another day's work. Rachel made a real difference in our lives. I will remember this day, and the wonderful care that I received, forever.
