Melissa is a very caring nurse, not only to all staff, but to her patients as well. She is very creative and each year makes the ornaments that we provide to families that have lost a loved one to cancer. Each ornament is unique and individually made by Melissa.

We had a cancer patient who was hospitalized for a few months a while back and during that stay he had a birthday. Melissa knew his favorite restaurant and on the day of his
birthday she went to this restaurant and brought back to him his favorite breakfast. Melissa decorated the outside of his doorway the week prior to his birthday. He enjoyed birthday wishes from the entire staff. He knew he wasn't just a number, but a friend to all who cared for him.

This is just one example of Melissa's extraordinary nursing, she always goes above and beyond and this is why she is deserving the DAISY Award.
