She is certified in Wound Care/Ostomy and leads the Beeville facility activities surrounding pressure ulcer prevention and identification; she has coordinated PUPS and IPUPS surveys for several years. Marty recently came in on her day off to educate a patient with a new colostomy and help set him up with appropriate discharge planning and worked with our team to arrange transportation.
She serves on multiple committees and provides a voice for front-line nursing in multiple avenues both at the facility and regional level. Marty serves as Chair of Shared Governance representing front-line Nurses for the Spohn Region. Marty works tirelessly to advocate for patients and nurses, she demonstrates a positive can do attitude in all her interactions. Marty is a role model for professional nursing practice, one which promotes the engagement of front-line nurses in promoting quality outcomes and healthy work environments. Marty works with her direct manager to promote a strong Unit Based Council which strives for shared decision making and problem solving. Marty is very deserving of a DAISY Nurse, she truly makes an impact in the safe delivery of safe quality care through her leadership and voice for front-line nurses.
