This is Kristen's second DAISY Award, the first was in 2008.

Being a nurse myself I was genuinely impressed by Kristen's performance with my daughter. With my daughter in active labor Kristen did not miss a beat nothing that she successfully navigated through all the admission assessment including every piece of information I'm sure that was required. When my daughter was indecisive about whether to have an epidural or natural when she was close to transition and Kristen had the anesthesiologist on the phone, she never pressured her but encouraged her and allowed her to make that final decision even though I know the doctor on the other end of that phone was surely pressing Kristen for a definitive answer. After the baby was born I was floundering with a huge professional camera to make some meaningful pictures (my daughter is a professional photographer), Kristen offered to take some awesome photos for us, one of the dad holding the baby's finger, Kristen's idea. Kristen was kind and professional at all times, never lost her cool and coached my daughter through a beautiful natural childbirth experience.
