I was feeling down when I came to the hospital, not being able to see my kids and be around them, having to be isolated and going through chronic pain the last five years. My nurse, Samantha came in and saw that I was feeling down; she started to talk to me and I told her all about my pain and everything that I've been through these past five years. She listened to me and told me that things would get better and that the staff would do what needed to be done to help me get in better health. She told me that the doctor would not give up on me; and today when she started her shift she came in with a hand-drawn get well card from her and her son. It said to get well and that everything would be ok. It said that my kids would get to be with me soon because I have his mommy taking care of me and she will make me all better. This brought joy and tears to my eyes and at the same time made me smile. Samantha went above and beyond to get me out of the funk I was in. She deserves recognition for making me feel happy and confident that the doctor would figure out what was wrong with me after five years of chronic pain. I had lost hope, but with her kindness and generosity, she brought my spirits and my hopes back up. This hospital is really lucky to have a nurse like Samantha who really cares about her patients.
