Beverly Clayton-Scott is such an amazing example of commitment to patient-centered care and a leader for the unit. Beverly rounds on patients and gets to know almost every one of them. One day she met a patient who had been in the hospital for a while and really missed her son. The patient's son is in the Army and was deployed to Afghanistan and when he returned to the States went straight to the base. She also missed her grandchildren.
Beverly contacted a Case Manager and a Social Worker. They were able to contact the Red Cross and able to get special permission for her son to come to visit her at the hospital. She was so surprised and was able to see her grandchildren as well. The patient was so excited and really appreciative that someone went above and beyond to do this for her.
