My sister-in-law was in Same Day Surgery for repair to her shoulder. We were told she would be going to the 3rd floor after the surgery, as scheduled by her orthopedic Doctor's office. When her ortho Dr did his pre-surgery visit in SDS, we mentioned to him our relief that she would be spending the night because of her significant medical needs. He immediately said that she would not be spending the night, that was an error made by his staff at the clinic. Upon my request, the ortho Dr talked to SDS staff to confirm the change in status.

Cathy Brown was with us through all of this. The Dr. was clear he would treat her shoulder only. He was not concerned with any other medical needs. Cathy listened with her heart and assured us that my sister-in-law would not be sent home if she was not medically stable. Cathy made a point of keeping me informed concerning my sister-in-law's progress in surgery and post-op. She reassured me that she heard and understood our concerns - that my sister-in-law would not be sent home if there was a medical need to stay.
