As part of my job I call back patients after discharge. On more than one occasion I have had patients name Theresa Gillenwater as their favorite nurse during their stay. They state various reasons such as: She is always so friendly, she would do anything you asked of her, she always smiles, she made me feel at home.

Theresa is a quiet, unassuming lady who does her job and does it well. She never asks for recognition and never expects any. She deserves this DAISY Award not because she is better than anyone, but because she has shown distinction and honor in her profession. Theresa displays the kind of extraordinary compassion and patient centered care that the DAISY Award is intended to recognize.
