A 12-year-old patient was admitted to the adolescent unit for increased anger issues. The mother was hesitant about him being on the unit. Brian talked with both mother and patient to help ease fears. During the patient's stay, Brian had several interactions with both the mother and the patient where his caring professional experience and attitude made the patient's stay here beneficial.

Brian consistently assists all nurses with daily tasks voluntarily. He consistently goes above and beyond his duties as charge nurse. He is always willing to answer any questions and is responsive to the staff needs. He has excellent communication skills with patients to de-escalate volatile situations before they progress. Due to the multiple instances, he has used communication skills in these situations it is difficult to give one specific story. I would like to recognize Brian for the compassionate care, his awesome work ethic, and to let him know it is a privilege to be part of his team.
