Debi is a great staff nurse in the PACU. She engages her patients and makes them feel safe and gives them lots of attention. You want to join in and be a part of her conversation with the patients. She is quiet and calm and focused on her patient's needs. Debi puts the patient first and gives healing care. Debi is a dedicated preceptor. She has oriented three nurses to PACU. She sets up our new hires for success. They are able to follow a plan of care for the surgical patients with each specialty. Debi is a leader in the unit, she models great nursing care. When a patient had emergence delirium, she went over to assist the assigned nurse to calmly reassure the patient. Just by offering expert care to the patient, she educated the new nurse on how to handle the situation. Debi cares about our community. She collects the used socks and washes them and delivers them to a homeless shelter. She cares for her co-workers, she covers the first part of the call shift at 2300 to finish the last case of the day. At the hospital, she is the one to stock the trays, keep the unit neat and check the EPIC events for the day. At home, Debi carries her dog, Linus down the three steps to go outside. We feel like Debi carries the PACU as carefully as she carries Linus.
