Angie was nominated for being willing to change and accept new assignments such as care management. She takes new challenges with enthusiasm and optimism. She has managed our Ambulatory Oupatient Treatment Program and is known for her patient and family centered care which is exemplified in her work with the Infantile Scoliosis patient population. She works closely with the physicians and is dedicated to the patients and families in her care. Angie is the most organized individual, she can work with families in crisis at the level where the family is at the time. She spends hours educating the parents about the disease process and the care for the child. She also is a team player; she knows when she has reached her limits in scope and when it is necessary to include other members of the care team such as the social worker in order for the patient to receive the best possible care. Many of us observed Angie about 10 days ago in a critical situation and she exhibited the attributes of a DAISY Nurse by staying calm, focused, caring and compassionate with the patient and family as well as her colleagues who were involved.
