I was admitted at Kaiser Permanente West Los Angeles for a surgical procedure. I had wonderful nurses that took care of me. But there was one in particular that just exemplified how a nurse should be, Fatu Koroma. I noticed her spirit right away as soon as she entered my room. She did everything with grace and explained the correct way of how things should be completed. I listened to how she taught the new nurses and students and I was amazed at her patience.

Fatu made me feel that I was the MOST important patient while she was in the room. She did not try to rush out, but spent time explaining what was expected when I got discharged. This was important during my recovery process as she removed the fears I had of the unexpected. She incorporated knowledge and information during our conversations and that made me feel that I was in very competent hands.

Not only was Fatu very genuine, she was also very humble. This is not just a job for Fatu, but a passion to help and heal those under her care. This was seen every day that she cared for me. She is a very valuable Kaiser team player! One can tell that she clearly loves being a nurse. This is her calling and it is clearly evident in how she takes care of her patients.
