Charlie has worked at Mercy Gilbert Medical Center since it opened, and I have always considered her an exceptional nurse. She is a compassionate nurse who often receives praise from her patients. I often see comments on our patient surveys, stating that Charlie was their "amazing neonatal nurse!"

Charlie constantly goes above and beyond. She is very active on our Baby Friendly Team and she helped educate every single MCH staff member about the benefits of breastfeeding and going Baby Friendly so that they can pass this knowledge on to their patients.

She is also very active on our March of Dimes Fundraising Team. She buys goodies throughout the year to assemble into beautiful gift baskets that we raffle off each Easter. She also helps to organize and plan our Easter Celebration here at Mercy Gilbert Medical Center. All funds from this event benefit the March of Dimes and their fight to stop premature birth, which Charlie deals with on a daily basis as a NICU nurse. This year the Mercy Gilbert MOD Fundraising Team raised approximately $11,000 dollars and the Dignity Health Team raised the third highest amount of money for the March of Dimes in the greater Phoenix area.

Sometimes staff members who constantly go above and beyond are overlooked because that is just what comes to be expected of them. Charlie doesn't have to be AMAZING every shift, nor does she have to help our hospital go Baby Friendly or raise funds for the March of Dimes. She does this because she is extraordinary. Please don't let her efforts go unnoticed.
