Jen Perry has always been a fantastic nurse, coworker and team player. She has always amazed me how well she interacts with patients and families. She has always been a role model to me and the others who work around her.
On this particular day in MICU I happened to be in the room next to her so I overheard a lot of what was going on for her patient. R was not doing well and the family who had been very understanding and considerate were trying to make a decision in regards to code status. She spent a considerable amount of time discussing all of the pros and cons to the different steps to DNR CCA, CCO and full code. She spent both days this weekend with this family and patient. The family decided to make the patient a DNR CCO and let their loved one go. She was there when he passed along with the family.
She went above and beyond to make sure it was as smooth as possible. Allowed the family to sing prayers over patient (also by phone), made sure they had anything they needed along with making sure the patient remained comfortable while he was passing. She was still with the family when the patient passed and she was a great comfort to the family during this and the family even asked for her name to speak with our boss about her. They were very thankful for her compassion through this very hard time.
I could give so many examples of her compassion, caring, loving, skillful, calm, knowledgeable, and such a big heart. She is a wonderful team player and I love working with Jennifer Perry.
