Amy was very attentive to me when I returned from my paracentesis. When I had a coughing attack, she was instrumental in settling me, calmed down and rested. Then she immediately conveyed the situation to the doctor: both the Doctor who performed the paracentesis and my chemo doctor. I believe it was her quick response and actions that insured my safety and ultimate admittance to the hospital. Because I was admitted and tests were made, pneumonia was diagnosed in the early stages and I was given antibiotics and proper care to recover. Because of her dedication to my care, I was not sent home with underlying pneumonia. When I got admitted, and was going to be transferred to my room, she phoned ahead and advised the nurse to warm the room, having already discovered my sensitivity to cold due to my chemo treatments.
The next day she came to visit me to see how I was doing and make sure I was doing better. What a wonderful demonstration of caring and compassion!
I was very pleased to have Amy as my nurse. She said she cares for patients as if she or her mother was the patient themselves and that is truly demonstrated by her actions.
