Rosemary Campbell has worked at our organization for 41 years, the last 20 years in surg/prep. She was nominated by Dr. Erik Ratchford for her extraordinary efforts to advocate for one of her patients.
One morning as she was preparing a frail, elderly patient for surgery, she realized the patient was scheduled for an additional procedure the very next day. She made many phone calls, collaborating with the two surgeons in order to complete the 2 procedures at the same time. As it turns out, it took 90 minutes to place an endotracheal tube in preparation for anesthesia. Without Rosemary's intervening, this fragile patient would have had to undergo anesthesia again the next day.
When Rosemary realized she was the DAISY Award Honoree she joked with Liz Murphy, "Couldn't you have just called me into your office and given this to me privately?"
