Kelly was nominated as a DAISY Nurse by her peers and clinical manager. Here is what they say about Kelly:

Kelly always puts patients and their family members first. She has been known to give rides to family members after work when they have missed the bus to their hotels. Patients return after they are well just to thank her in person for her wonderful care. She is a wonderful nurse and co-worker.

Kelly routinely makes connections with both patients and families:

- Hugging spouse and sharing a tearful goodbye to a Hospice patient going home for end-of life.

- Facilitating visitors performing bluegrass music to a patient - the patient wanted to see some square-dancing - Kelly danced a little jig to the delight of patients and visitors!

Kelly's compassion for her patients is unmatched, even on a regular basis.

There was an end-of-life patient on our floor who was having swallowing difficulty and was choking on regular foods. He really wanted to eat a sugar cookie. Kelly took it upon herself to bring in sugar cookie flavored pudding from her home the next day for this gentleman. He was so grateful. This is just one of the many things that she does for her patients. She goes above and beyond every day at work. She is a shining example of what an RN should aspire to be.
