I have 2 stories; the most recent was on a Thursday, which is Tiffany's office day. Acuity on the unit was very high, with several psychotic and manic patients acting out. Tiffany came to the nurses station to get something and saw one of our borderline patients blocking the doorway and acting out. Other staff were in the nurses station but instead of having them attend to the patient, Tiffany very calmly and extremely effectively dealt with this patient, even though it ended up taking 30 minutes of her day and the patient wasn't hers.

One day several months ago, before Tiffany transferred to Elm she was pulled here. The lead RN was attacked by a patient and Tiffany stepped up to the plate and calmly and willingly assumed the charge role on a unit that wasn't even "hers".

These are just 2 examples of why Tiffany deserves the DAISY award. Her presence on the unit gives a calmness to the ambience. She is a role model on how to deal with difficult patients. If she ever gets upset, she never lets it show. She is respectful and compassionate to the patients at all times, yet is still able to maintain the standards for appropriate behavior (by the patients).
