My family wishes to nominate and thank Meagan for taking the time encouraging Dad to walk. Her spirit made her stand out from his other caregivers. Dad spent nearly 8 weeks at LGH on various units. Meagan gave my family hugs and support when we were all in tears, struggling with Dad's weakness and dizziness. She made my Dad smile! She's a wonderful nurse!

Maintaining continuity of care, ensuring that best outcomes are achieved, and assisting patients with meeting their individualized goals are just a few of the responsibilities of a nurse. Being able to provide personable, compassionate care while demonstrating clinical expertise is an expectation. What sets Meagan apart as a DAISY nurse is her ability to calmly provide the technical care necessary for patient safety while simultaneously comforting the patient and their families during their most vulnerable times.
Mr. M was hospitalized to rule out a stroke after experiencing syncope and right arm weakness. His personal goal was to go home to be with his wife. However, barriers in his condition required the treatment team to consider inpatient rehab in a skilled nursing facility as a discharge option. Meagan was instrumental through this process. Whether it was being attuned to his frustrations with yet another hospitalization, or empathetically consoling him through his sadness and frustrations, she served as his coach and cheerleader to help him persevere through his challenges with ambulation and strengthening. She even celebrated his triumph of successful ambulation of 100 feet in the hallway, an unthinkable achievement at the beginning of his hospitalization. Mr. M is now home with his wife and doing well. He and his family credit everyone on 7Lime for their contributions to his care and healing, but Meagan stands out as being an extraordinary nurse worthy of the DAISY award.
