Although many nurses provided care to our brother when he was a patient a short time ago, a nurse stood out for the compassionate care he provided, as well as the meaningful connection made with us. Our nominee is a wonderful nurse who took care of my brother's during the last phase of his life. A wonderful nurse, Mary Kate Brady, was extremely attentive and very compassionate. The day all the life-supporting machines were removed from my brother she was with there with him and with us, his family, caring, supporting and helping us through to the very end. Although our brother took a few hours to pass, Mary Kate promised us she would remain with him and with us, and she did so. Even though her shift was over, Mary Kate stayed with us. Mary Kate began this process with us, stayed, and remained a compassionate support and comfort to all of us until my brother passed away.
