Lynda was nominated by a fellow Midland Memorial Hospital (MMH) nurse after she watched Lynda care for her close friend who underwent a quadruple bypass. Lynda's nominator expressed feeling worried for her friend: "Although I have been a nurse for many years, it never seems to make a difference when it is your family or friend that is hospitalized." But Lynda's compassion and caring manner managed to even calm the fears of an experienced nurse as well as those of the patient and the patient's family. The nominator listened as Lynda spoke with the family about the plan of care that would be followed in the coming days as well as an explanation of things to expect after they go home. "She goes above and beyond the expectations of her job and includes the family as she is working with the patient to assure they are also included in the plan of care," Lynda's nominator wrote. "I am grateful to Lynda and wanted you to know that she was the personification of MMH's mission."

Because of Lynda's compassionate and caring efforts, her patients experience a level of care that exemplifies the impact nurses have in creating an environment where patients and families feel at home.
