Rachel Shurina is not only an experienced professional nurse but goes above and beyond for her patients. One Sunday she was caring for 2 NICU patients who were both sick. One was medically complex and unstable while the other was a new stroke who had Downs Syndrome. She went above an beyond for the 80 year old caregiver of the patient with special needs. She was flown emergently with her daughter here to the hospital without any money, phone or her medications. Paige made arrangements to call her family, order meal trays and even ordered her medication from our inpatient pharmacy. Paige took the time to explain every step of the care of her daughter as well as comfort the family member who was visibly shaken due to the news of the patient's prognosis. She took exceptional care of both her patient and their families during this difficult time. She deserves to be recognized for her compassionate care.
