...Sarah has done some amazing things with the stroke alert program in our department. She has worked hard to educate every nurse about the importance of documentation and patient care during a stroke alert, and her hard work is clearly evidenced by our numbers. Our stroke care compliance has gone from 41% in November to 98% in April, and I attribute this to Sarah's efforts in getting our staff better educated and engaged.

She is also currently working on a project to get the "Freeze Team" (therapeutic hypothermia) up and running to help take even better care of our Artic Sun hypothermia patients. She has truly taken education as a mission for our department and has a different "learning topic" each month that is presented to staff to keep them involved and informed.

Sarah is very dedicated to the ER and has a passion for excellent patient care. She often stays late and is always willing to just jump in and get messy. She advocates for every patient in the department, ensuring that they get the best care possible. Sarah is well respected by the staff and also the patients and their families. I cannot think of a more deserving nurse to receive the DAISY Award. Martin Health System is very fortunate to have her on our team!
