I worked a shift with Megan, I was on the floor with 5 patients and she was the charge nurse, from the beginning it was a very difficult assignment. The new admit required so much that morning and throughout the day that I was not able to check on my other patients in a timely manner, nor give their medications on time. Megan checked on all of my other patients and gave medications to 2 of them for me. In addition to that, Megan was continually available to me to help with cleaning of a patient with the GI bleed (every 30-60 minutes) and bringing me supplies, double checking blood product and numerous other small tasks that I just didn't have the hands nor the time for.

Through all of it, Megan was the most perfect SSC anyone could ever ask for. She was right there ready to help with an open, encouraging and positive attitude/manner. Never once did she say no, get short with me or not come through for me, although I am sure I took her away from her own duties more than once. I felt like I took most of her time that morning and I have no idea what was going on the rest of our unit, but to look you would have never known she had anything else to do that day but hang out and help me! (And I'm sure that was not really the case.) In doing so, Megan made my day much more manageable, and she also helped my patients have a better experience and get the care they needed.

She made a difference to me and I know she made a difference to the patients.
