Amy is the Charge Nurse for the Urgent Care Clinic (UCC) and has been a nurse at ZSFG since 2011. Amy is known to go above and beyond in her daily assignments/tasks/responsibilities to ensure that the UCC runs smoothly and efficiently. She is not only a compassionate nurse in how she provides care for the many patients we see here at UCC, but she is also a natural leader who cares for the staff.
Amy has been known to exude compassionate care in the simple way she helps patients navigate the system at ZSFG; providing directions to patients she hears speaking in a foreign language - clearly needing direction; offering a patient having mobility difficulties in the hallway a wheelchair to ease their clinic visit and many more examples like this. Amy will provide this exemplary care, not to get kudos or compliments, but because she believes this is the right thing to do for our patients.
Additionally, Amy is an amazing teacher for other nurses around her. She will be seen in the unit, day-in, and day-out, helping out a new nurse navigate the system, teaching an employee how to correctly process something, or just being that sounding board for our charge nurse leaders when issues or challenges come up. Amy will provide this assistance instinctively and tirelessly, without being asked by her leaders or supervisors. In fact, more than anything, what is amazing about Amy is her humility, despite her being an amazing and large influence in the clinic and those around her.
Amy has been instrumental in recent transitions for the UCC. Her desire to serve is so deep, she even delayed her wedding plans to accommodate certain deadlines for the UCC move - something not many would be willing to do or sacrifice. Amy is well-respected by the staff at UCC because she goes above and beyond to ensure that systems are in place to ensure that services at UCC run smoothly - knowing that UCC is a key department for ZSFGH - providing urgent care services for patients, assists in decompressing the emergency department lower-level patients and backs-up the primary care clinics on campus when they have maximized their own urgent care appointments. It is no wonder then, that as the specialty clinics are embarking on the Epic, Amy has been chosen as the Epic Super User to help navigate the various departments during this challenging time. Amy is a dependable rock and a true pillar here at ZSFGH.
