Theresa wasn't even my nurse. I was waiting in the hallway outside the OR and feeling very invisible and alone. Things had changed so quickly that I was unable to process everything that was happening to me. Theresa was a Godsend. She was just walking by and asked how I was doing. I told her not very well. I was scared. She took my hand and said, "Don't worry, baby girl. Jesus has got you." Oh, how I needed that! I needed a Theresa right then, and there she was. She left and I was wheeled into the OR, but Theresa didn't leave. She walked down to the OR waiting room and prayed with my sister. She didn't have to do that. She didn't have to do any of those things that she did, but Theresa did them anyway. She looked past the chart and saw the individual. She showed love and kindness to two perfect strangers. Theresa inspires me to be better. To show that perfect love of Christ in a simple, singular act, to be a force of good. I will never forget my Theresa experience.
