As a patient in the Emergency Department in the past and a medic from Wardensville, WV, I have the opportunity to transport most of our patients to the WMC ED. While I feel almost all the nurses do a good to great job, Jules always goes the extra mile to assure not only the physical care of the patient, but takes the time out to show she cares and to keep the patient informed of what will be done.

A specific example is my transport of an elderly female this past weekend who was having a medical emergency and who also was a patient with progressive dementia. Jules not only took the time to gather extensive information from the EMS crew, but spoke in an adult tone and manner with the patient, explained what was happening, held the patient's hand, and provided social and emotional support.

As a volunteer medic and professional in the mental health field I see many medical providers treat the elderly with dementia as if they aren't there. Jules goes the extra mile to comfort them and helps to make their ED experience as stress-free as possible.
