I nominate Kristin Sigurdsson, RN for the DAISY Award. I have been in practice for 9 years as a primary care physician and she is above & beyond the best RN I have ever worked with.
Kristin truly cares about patients. I hear her on the phone with our patients day in & day out. Whether the patient is anxious, belligerent, in pain or has a routine need, Kristin is always tremendously kind and respectful. Consequently, she is able to diffuse some very difficult situations. Patients often give me the feedback that they love Kristin and know that she cares about them.
I have one patient that has faced some difficult challenges. Kristin has gone above & beyond, accompanying me on a home visit for this patient and often taking a proactive role in his care management by calling to check in on him.
Kristin is unanimously regarded in our clinic as one of our most gracious team members. She always is willing to pitch in & help out even in areas that are not her primary role or responsibility. We have been down an MA for the last month and Kristin has been so flexible about stepping in to help room patients in addition to her usual responsibilities. She does this without ever complaining and is the quintessential team member.
Kristin has also taken the initiative to lead & learn about various aspects of clinic function (e.g. vaccines). She has attended CMEs and come up with and maintained a system of managing our vaccines that is comprehensive and effective.
I often tell Kristin that she is a huge part of my personal job satisfaction and I know I am not alone. She is a lynch pin in our clinic and we all do our jobs better because of her. She is beyond extraordinary in every criteria for the DAISY Award.
