During a casual conversation, Maureen mentioned she recently cared for a patient who was hospitalized during his course of radiation. Maureen visited the patient during his hospital stay. During the visit the patient stated that he was upset that for the first time in 30+ years of marriage he and his wife were separated. His wife's birthday was the next day and he didn't even have a card for her. Maureen went directly to the gift shop and chose a card that seemed to fit what the gentleman would have chosen for his wife. She took the card to him so he would have something to give her. This is who Maureen is; it is a standard of care. She exemplifies EXTRAORDINARY NURSING. She is more than deserving of a DAISY Award!
