Nurses are not made, they are born! Let me introduce you to a person who was born to be a nurse! Rose Marie Sales has been a staff nurse here at MSH for over 40 years. She is recognized as an outstanding, soft spoken nurse by patients and health team members. Her vast nursing skills have placed her in the role of charge nurse, preceptor, and mentor. Rose is passionate about nursing and demonstrates this passion by providing excellent nursing care to patients and their families. Her smile warms the hearts of both co-workers and patients. Rose exemplifies the kind of nurse our hospital calls a role model and no one is more deserving of this DAISY Award than her. I salute your dedication and your extraordinary personality.

Rose had this patient with advanced dementia who would wander the unit in search of her daughter, thinking she was about to be discharged. Rose would re-direct her but the patient would exhibit her behavior again so Rose placed a chair in the hall for her to sit so everyone could see she was safe. She prevented the patient from wandering off and out of the hospital into the streets of Chicago. Rose is great!!!!

Rose is very calm and compassionate, dedicated to patients and loved by colleagues. Truly she is not only a good worker but indeed a friend to everyone Rose's patience towards co-workers and patients is exemplary. I never saw her get mad or raise her voice, even when she is verbalizing concerns. Rose never complains. She is soft spoken, so gentle and motherly I have the privilege of working with Rose for the past 5 years. She is compassionate and shows concern and sympathy for patients and co workers. She attempts to understand each patient's challenges without judgement. She knows each person has their own value and life experience that have brought them to this point.

Rose is helpful and approachable at all times and is always willing to help co-workers She was my preceptor and was very knowledgeable in all procedures in the unit. She was very supportive and had a lot of patience to teach new nurses like me. Rose is a caring person who never has a bad day.
