Dee Roberts is "The Patient Experience". Dee had an oncology patient she transferred to MICU. She came to the MICU several times during her shift to support the patient's family. She had an ongoing therapeutic relationship with the wife. Dee sat down with the wife and compassionately addressed end of life issues that family had refused to discuss prior to Dee's interaction. There was a daughter who had cognitive issues and difficulty understanding the patient's poor prognosis. Dee even provided the wife with her phone number. After the mother spoke to her daughter, she called Dee to seek guidance on helping the patient just be comfortable and not suffer. Dee did an amazing job addressing the code status. Dee hugged the wife and talked with the family at the bedside.
