My father was admitted to CAMC Memorial. He fell backward and landed on the fireplace at his home. He fractured his lower back and sustained a serious skin wound on the left arm. He is 87 years old and is hard of hearing even with hearing aids. This nurse extended tremendous care and compassion towards my dad. She changed the bandaging on his arm daily and was so very gentle to minimize the pain.
Wound Care consult was delayed and she treated the wound to promote healing and comfort in the meantime to Dad. My dad would always praise her for her unbelievable care. She was so patient with him, taking the time to listen to him, despite his communication struggles. Dad would scream out in pain but she never lost her patience. She actively helped with OT/PT assessments from a support role and she also had a positive impact on younger nursing staff. Pattie is a true DAISY Nurse!
