Recently I was a patient on the Balfour unit being admitted through the Emergency Department. I had a very positive experience from the moment I entered the building until the moment I was discharged, everyone that I encountered was very professional. However, one person did stand out and that was Kira Audette. Kira was my nurse for my two-day stay. from the first hello I knew I wanted her to care for me. I was thrilled she was my nurse on the second day of my admission because as a patient it was important to have that consistency. Kira was approachable and friendly. She showed such compassion and kindness towards me which made me feel as though I was the only patient she was caring for which was not the case she had many other patients. She is extremely knowledgeable and so willing to go above and beyond to make me feel comfortable and quite frankly special. It was more than her nursing skills, it was a genuine concern for her patients and that does not come from a textbook or training sessions that comes from the heart. I am thankful for my encounter with Kira and will always remember her kindness in my time of need.
