Kathy cared for my mother-in-law following colon cancer surgery. She is 102 years old. Kathy went the extra mile in every situation to see that my husband's mother was getting the help she needed following surgery. My mother-in-law is hearing impaired and Kathy spoke distinctly to her and worked with her to determine the best pain medication and dose for her discomfort. Kathy took time to call the assisted living facility where she was going to receive rehabilitation. She spoke with the administrator to ensure that she would be receiving the close attention that someone of her age needs. Kathy was able to pass along to our family the information about a 25-year veteran nurse who would be taking care of Helen at rehab. Kathy also helped me with an explanation of some body creams that would be beneficial in avoiding skin tears or bed sores. Kathy was a reassuring voice to my mother-in-law and to my husband and me. We give two "thumbs up" to Kathy Chesney, an extraordinary RN.
