In the process of my recovery as a patient especially in the first stage of my surgery which was dramatic and very painful, I always appreciated nurse Janina, not only for her professionalism but by always being on time with my medications. Her presence brought with her special healing in itself. She gave me laughter and good cheer. Just being herself was a lifesaving medicine. She showed real concern for me in so many ways. She also always had a kind word to share with me which warmed my heart. She played a big part in my recovery and I am very thankful for that.

It is a wonderful feeling when patients recognize our great staff and the exceptional care they provide. When I think about describing Ms. Mantuano I would have to agree with the patient. She is a very professional nurse, quiet, and reserved. I do not think I ever heard her raise her voice or at least not around me.
Janina's immediate supervisor described her as a patient, compassionate, and understanding nurse who does not hesitate to help her co-workers when needed. To bring laughter and good cheer to a patient is not always easy. Nurses can get overwhelmed by the workload, acuity, and everything that goes on in the unit. It takes a special kind of nurse to be able to do that but also brings healing, which plays a part in the patient's recovery. We are very lucky and proud to have a nurse like Ms. Janina Mantuano in 6D. I am not surprised that she was nominated for a DAISY Award. Once again thank you, for being part of the 6D family and congratulations.
