During the brink of COVID-19, Dr. P. Phillips Hospital formed a rock star team of leaders. Together, they promptly strategized a plan in the face of the pandemic. Responsiveness, focus, and above anything, collaboration became key to create and operationalize a new unit that would provide optimal patient care for this new special patient population, while also creating an environment for those providing care to feel safe. ICU graciously shared their floor, PCU shared their Assistant Nurse Managers and Team Members, and specialized education was created and rolled out swiftly, establishing the Acute Respiratory Unit (ARU) for COVID-19 patients.
