David was my husband's nurse during his stay at the hospital. I was so impressed with the compassionate and exceptional care he provided to my husband.
My husband has many challenges, he had an ischemic stroke and subsequent brain hemorrhage in 2012 so he requires a lot of care. One challenge is that he is completely deaf from the stroke but tries to read lips and David made sure he spoke slowly and looked directly at him so he would understand him. He also explored other ways to communicate with him, including using the whiteboard and he even made a sign for the room explaining that my husband is hearing impaired and explained how to communicate with him. My husband has vascular dementia from the brain injuries and he becomes very confused and emotional, especially in a different environment.
David comforted him during these times. He also kept asking if I was okay and if I needed a break he would make sure my husband was okay. These and many more things he did in caring for my husband are commendable and what every nurse should be. Thank you David for the care you provided to us.
