In January my daddy had to be in the hospital. He and his wife are older and she is his primary caregiver. My daddy had a stroke several years ago that made it difficult for him to walk easily or communicate. When it became obvious to the family that he had some sort of change, he was taken to the Emergency Dept. It was very busy and the hospital was more than full. The elderly couple was in the Emergency Dept for a very long time and nobody would really listen to our concerns. When professionals would come in their messages contradicted each other, we could not understand what was going on. Some even said nothing was wrong with him.
Eventually, Jordan Vance, NP took over care. For the first time someone talked to us and listened. Jordan was thorough and kind. Daddy had a mass on his lung, kidney failure, and had a new stroke which he would require rehabilitation from. The only way we felt this was all manageable was the encouraging way that Jordan talked to us and taught us.
Jordan stood out among ALL the staff. His professionalism is beyond compare. Because of Jordan, we felt seen. We felt human. Before we had him we were hustled around like meat that is without ears or soul. Jordan had compassion and wisdom.
If we ever have to go back, I hope we get Jordan.
