My husband and I would like to thank the CCU nurses for the wonderful care they gave our daughter, especially Jon, Jen, and Becky. This was just as important if not more for us the care and compassion they showed our family. We were inundated with so much information on our daughter's condition and none of it was good and it was very confusing to us because every day we had what we saw as great improvements but were being given medical information from the doctors that was not good, please note she was 36 years old. We were so exhausted and confused by what we were seeing and experiencing; I went to the nurses and asked if they could explain some of it to us and they did what they could.
Let me tell you, Jon brought so much understanding to us. We had already gathered from the doctors it was very grave. With Jon's help and compassion, we were able to have peace with what was going on and what needed to be done. I jokingly said to Jon, "Thank you for dumbing all this medical stuff down so we can process and understand it". We both had a good laugh, which was so needed by me at the time.
Jen may not have been able to save our daughter that day, but she sure saved me and my mental health. Come to find out with her help my questions were too abstract (my word not hers), I was able to ask her questions until I got the question in a manner that she or the doctors were able to answer in the bounds of medical ethical limitations. She helped us with personal belongs and gave us much needed words of support.
Death is hard for anyone, but with Becky's compassion for our needs, she allowed us to be with our daughter and if it's even possible, left us with the memory of a peaceful passing. Thank you, Becky, for the memory of our daughter passing with peace and dignity. For that we will forever be grateful.
I brought my gratitude to the CCU nursing supervisor in hopes she could somehow recognize all the nurses for their compassion and help to our family beyond the wonderful patient care they provided. What they did for our family went way beyond the simple requirement of patient care.
