Dani was my nurse on my first night in the maternity unit. All of my nurses over the 4 days that I was a patient were great, but Dani is one that sticks out as extra compassionate. Words cannot describe how amazing of a nurse she is. Even after reading all of the infant care books and taking baby class, I was still petrified of taking care of a tiny new human at the same time as recovering from a c-section myself.
Dani not only did all of our assessments and gave out my medications that night, but she wore so many other hats such as lactation education, mom-to-mom advice, and walking me to the bathroom when my legs were not quite back to normal so I could clean up and brush my teeth (and feel human again). She instilled confidence in our skills as new parents and taught us so much. She gave my husband and me the building blocks to independently care for a new baby and recover once we got home a few days later.
I know Dani had other patients that night but only because I saw it on the nursing board, or I would have never known because she was so attentive. She absolutely goes above and beyond to personify the iCARE principles.
