My mother was transported from to Providence in the ICU. Her nurses were excellent, but one nurse in particular went above and beyond her duties. Her name is Laura. My mother was in very bad shape. When Laura arrived on shift she treated my mother like she was her own mother. Understanding that my mother had dementia, every time my mother asked a question Laura answered her as if that was the first time mother had asked her. The care and compassion Laura gave my mother were incredible. Anything Mother needed or asked for Laura would find a way to provide for her.
Laura was very professional, compassionate, and caring while my mother was in the ICU. She is a nurse who has that special quality when it comes to her patients. She does her job but also takes the time to listen and talk with her patients along with their family.
Laura was wonderful with us kids and all the grandchildren. Any questions we asked, Laura explained it in a way we could all understand. Laura worked to always keep us informed of her blood pressure, blood sugar, and anything she did for our mother. Any procedure that was scheduled, she would let us know and answer any questions. We were truly grateful.
My mother was moved the next day. Laura let us follow Mother up to her new room. Our family was so blessed to know her and know how well she took care of our mother while she was in the ICU.
When my mother was moved out of the ICU, upstairs to a room, Laura later came to see my mother just to check on her and see how she was doing. For a nurse to come and see a patient that is no longer in the ICU is a special person who dedicates herself to her patients because she cares for them. This hospital is so fortunate to have her as a team member and we all just loved her.
Laura has the best personality. She brightens any room. Laura kept our spirits up. Laura took the time to even check on Mother after she was moved to another floor. Laura is an exceptional nurse. She will always have a special place in our hearts!
