I am a newer nurse on SSU and had my first surgery in December. Ashley Nodurft offered to be my nurse during the day of surgery. Ashley was so amazing and attentive to me before and after my surgery. I was so anxious and scared and she helped calm me down.
She was very caring and helped to make me as comfortable as possible before I went down. After I got back up from surgery, she did an outstanding job making sure my pain was controlled. She even bought me a diet Pepsi while I was waiting for my mom to get back from taking care of my dogs. That small act meant the world to me.
She is part of a top-notch team, not only in caring for one of their own nurses but to all the patients. It's never easy being a patient when you are a nurse, especially with an infant and two dogs at home. Ashley helped alleviate my anxiety about my kids. I could not think of a better nurse to receive this award.
